Abstract

In Ecuador and specifically in the Andean highlands, the demand for a sustainable physical space is evident, and is corroborated by the data from the Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos (INEC) and Ministerio de Desarrollo Urbano y de Vivienda, (MIDUVI); which identifies groups of people of moderate and extreme poverty, living in informal spaces and crowded rooms where dynamics are generated in their daily lives, directly related to their furniture and physical space. This work was developed through qualitative and quantitative research, where a compilation of documentary data was used, an unstructured interview to the MIDUVI and field observation, where it was identified and recorded in observation files, where it is intended to identify and record in observation sheets, the patterns of idiosyncrasy through the action in the daily life of the people in study and the existing economy. The project was developed for the design of affordable and sustainable habitat, generating prototypes of seed container, which respond to three climatic zones in the central highlands of Ecuador, and to ways of inhabiting this territory, with an access of 6000 dollars, to the value of 12,500 dollars, according to the records of the MIDUVI to totally subsidized groups.
